New coronavirus prayer resource from CofE

The Church of England has announced that its popular coronavirus prayers are now available as a booklet to order or as a PDF to share digitally or print locally.

The prayers on the coronavirus page of the Church of England website have been one of the most widely-used areas of the site over the last four weeks.

The new booklet contains prayers for personal or group use when we are struggling to find words to express how we feel.

The prayers will help Christians to pray in solidarity with one another even when it is not possible to gather together in church.

The booklet also includes a simple form of prayer to say each morning and evening which can be shared with all who are at home and unable to worship together, especially those who are unable to access online resources.

The newly produced booklet of the prayers can be freely downloaded, e-mailed or printed by anyone via the website – with versions suited to sharing digitally, printing at home, or printing professionally.

Printed copies are also being made available to order.

Dr Thomas Allain Chapman is Publishing Manager for the Archbishop's Council of the Church of England, says: "I am pleased to say that we now have a first printing underway, with stock expected to be available within a week (by Friday 24 April). We’re tried to keep the prices as low as we possibly can. We have printed an initial quantity, but expect that demand may be substantial and will take a decision on a further printing within a couple of days.

"It’s important to note that the description on our site highlights the need to consult the main Church of England COVID-19 guidance on the distribution of printed communications."

To limit the risk of spread of infection and disease, parishes are encouraged to use the postal service to reach those not able to access the materials digitally.

Please read the regularly updated coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance for churches from the Church of England, which includes guidance on the distribution of printed communication in the current situation.
