"I continue to pray for all those affected in Whaley Bridge, particularly those whose livelihoods have been impacted upon and those who have had to evacuate their homes.
"It is clear that the local authorities and agencies have been working tirelessly and courageously to support the community. I am very grateful to the men and women carrying out these tasks and will continue to hold them in my prayers too.
"It is at times like these that we see ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I celebrate the kindness of neighbours in caring for the most vulnerable and those in need. Let us hope and pray that water levels continue to subside and the task of mending homes and hearts can begin."
