Nadene Wright has joined the Outreach Team as Diocesan Racial Justice Officer, a new role for Chester Diocese. We are not currently at a point of racial equality, so Nadene’s mission is to narrow the gap of racial disparities in our churches, schools and workplaces, and create a bridge between our Global Majority and Minority communities. With her secondary school teacher background, Nadene is passionate about equality in the classroom and the importance of starting students on a level pegging.
Nadene lives in Nantwich and will be based at Church House. She said, “No child should be left behind due to predetermined social and racial injustices. I’m excited about this opportunity to contribute to creating a world of racial parity and justice. With the eradication of both unconscious and conscious racial bias, we can create a much more inclusive, equitable and less fragmented society.”
Director of Outreach, Peter Froggatt said, “We are delighted to have Nadene join the Outreach team as Racial Justice Officer. She will have lots to do as she enables churches to engage with the communities around them, and helps the whole diocese to respond to the many challenges contained in From Lament to Action. Racial Justice is an issue that we have to take much more seriously, and Nadene, with the Racial Justice Forum, will be great at helping us to do this."
