The number of people permitted to attend weddings and funerals is set to increase incrementally over the next few weeks and months, according to the Government "roadmap" out of lockdown.
The Government paper on the easing of restrictions was published on Monday 22 February. You can view the paper here.
The dates published here are subject to the Government's own assessment of the data at each stage in its "roadmap". Please ensure you are adhering to Government guidelines at all times.
The expected easing of restrictions for attendance at a wedding is as follows:
8 March- 6 guests
12 April – 15 guests
17 May – 30 guests
21 June – no restrictions
"Guests" include the bride and groom and any photographer or organist present.
The expected easing of restrictions for attendance at a funeral is as follows:
8 March – 30 at the funeral and 6 at any wake
12 April – 30 at funeral 15 at any wake
17 May – 30 at funeral and wake
21 June – no restrictions
Following the Prime Minister’s statement to Parliament on Monday 22 February, the Bishop of London, Sarah Mullally, who chairs the Church of England’s Coronavirus Recovery Group, said: "We will study the details and, working with Government Departments, refine our own advice for local churches in the weeks ahead."
Changes to advice for local churches will be published on the Church of England coronavirus webpage in the first instance and communicated to parishes in the Diocese of Chester via the Coronavirus Briefing.
