Christianity in England and Wales is experiencing unexpected growth, particularly among young adults and young men, reversing previous trends of decline and apathy. This "Quiet Revival" report, based on robust data, shows increased church attendance, ethnic diversity, Bible reading, and belief in God. Church involvement is positively impacting mental health, life satisfaction, and community engagement, especially for young adults. While challenges remain, the revival's impact on individuals and communities is undeniable.
The report, published by the Bible Society, has 10 key findings which are worth hearing. For example, that fact that 34% of 18 – 24 yr old non-churchgoers would attend church if invited by a friend!
“Across our diocese, I hear stories of people who are starting to attend church. Many of these are young adults. This report gives thorough statistical evidence to back up this anecdotal evidence, and plenty of things to think about how we respond to this new move of God. We should all read it as soon as possible.” John Hellewell, Mission Adviser.
If you want to be encouraged about what is happening to faith at the moment – especially among young adults – then come and hear James Markham from the Bible Society outline the highlights, and have a chance to question him about the details, and possible responses to it.
