The Church of England has over 10,000 churches in rural areas and 40% of those who attend church go to rural churches. There are 273 parishes in the Diocese of Chester, about 100 of which can be described as rural
Here are a couple of events happening in early 2025, aimed at supporting rural churches in their mission and helping them to grow.
Transforming Lives Together: Connecting Rural Communities event
Saturday February 8th 2025 at Chelford Village Hall.
Hear about the issues of loneliness and poverty in rural areas. Listen to churches and other organisations describe how they are responding to the issues Share and learn from each others' experience. Rural Mission and Ministry Network Retreat for clergy
Wednesday 29 January 2025, Foxhill House and Woodlands
Time away for clergy, spending time with others working in a similar context led by Reverend Dr Judy Hunt, formally Director of Ministry in the Diocese, will be with us and will lead our thinking and praying.
