The Diocese of Chester is working with the organisation 'Caring for God’s Acre' to support parishes to get the most out of churchyards – to reconnect with your community and enrich the environment.
Together with Caring for God’s Acre, the Diocese of Chester invite people from across the diocese to a number of webinars, starting in May, giving training and encouragement on many aspects of using churchyards, and linking them together in a forum for sharing ideas and experiences.
This comes at a time when environmental issues are very high on the agenda of the diocese. Throughout the period of Lent we posted daily reflections that each focused on the environment. The diocese is also committed to becoming an Eco-Diocese following a unanimous decision by Bishop's Council to agree to work towards that target. Eco Diocese is an initiative from the Christian environment charity, A Rocha. You can read more about this here
