We would like to invite nominations for people to be members of our synodical committees. Some vacancies are open to anyone and we are keen to hear from people who want to further the work of the Diocese in reaching and blessing the 1.5 million across our region.
The process by which individuals can be nominated to synodical committees follows the successful election of Diocesan Synod on 01 August.
Nominations are open for the following positions:
- Chair of House of Clergy - Synod member
- Chair of House of Laity - Synod member
- Bishops’ Council - Synod member
- Parish Share Appeals Committee
- Committee for Outreach
- Committee for Ministry
- Vacancy-in-See Committee
- Board of Patronage
The committees will sit for a period of three years apart from the Board of Patronage which will sit for a period of six years.
Interim Diocesan Secretary, Chris Penn, says: “We welcome nominations from all corners of the diocese, whether you are familiar with diocesan governance or not. Our committees play an important role and it’s our hope that they reflect the breadth and depth of opinion and viewpoints.”
The election of synodical committee members is an important aspect of diocesan governance. The committees offer specialised support and guidance to the Bishop’s Staff team and diocesan officers based at Church House, Daresbury.
The closing date for nomination forms is 12 noon on Friday 20 September 2024. Forms received after that time cannot be considered.
Nomination forms and more information is available on the Nominations for Synodical Committees page
