The Bishop's Staff team took the decision earlier this week to suspend the remainder of this year’s MDR cycle until 2021. Clergy should have received notice of this in an email dated 02 April.
The email reads:
"In the light of the current situation, it has been decided that this year’s cycle of MDR conversations will be postponed until 2021. It was felt that because clergy are of necessity having to focus on the immediate pressures of ministry in an unprecedented context, it would be very difficult to contemplate the kind of conversation called for in MDR. Also, it is certainly possible that some of the patterns of our ministry might well change in the longer-term following this pandemic, and that it makes sense to wait until the picture is a bit clearer before resuming MDR. Senior staff will continue to be in regular contact with clergy as the situation develops. The MDR office will be in touch in due course about the details, but meanwhile, please suspend work on this year’s MDR cycle."
