The Revd Lucy and the Revd David Brewster have been appointed to the role of Director-Designate of Foxhill. The married couple will take up the job share in September, with Lucy titled Director-Designate and David as Chaplain.
The current Director of Foxhill, the Revd Jonathon Green will remain in post until June 2023 to ensure an effective handover.
Accepting the position, David said: “We are following someone with a huge amount of experience who has helped to grow and enhance Foxhill.
“The first few months are going to be a period of discernment for Lucy and I as we work out where our passions and gifts are going to be best suited to serving Foxhill and all who visit it.”
Lucy said: “Not every diocese has its own retreat house and it’s in such a beautiful setting. There’s just something about the sense of peace and calm and the feeling of coming home that you find every time you visit. I am thrilled to have been offered this opportunity.”
David is currently the Incumbent of Edgeley and Cheadle Heath, whilst Lucy is in her third year of curacy in the parish of Partington and Carrington.
They have lived in the same house for over 19 years and described working in the parish as a “joy” and said, “it will be a big wrench when we finally move”.
The Bishop of Stockport, Sam Corley, led the recruitment process and invited David and Lucy to consider applying for the position. Bishop Sam said: “David and Lucy are experienced and wise priests with generous and hospitable hearts. The appointment panel was impressed by their understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Foxhill and was excited by the compelling vision they offered for the future of Foxhill and its role in the life of the diocese. They each bring unique gifts and skills and I am confident they will both be a blessing to all who visit Foxhill.

Jonathon Green and his wife, Anne, have worked at Foxhill for a number of years, supported by Assistant Director, Chris Wood.
Foxhill House dates back to the 1860s and is set within 70 acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside and woodlands. It has been run by the Diocese of Chester as a retreat centre since 1968.
