The Bishop of Chester has appointed Rev Ruth Mock, Vicar of Sandiway and Rural Dean of Middlewich to assist Archdeacon Jane Proudfoot with some of the duties of the Archdeacon of Chester as Mike Gilbertson takes a three-month sabbatical from 1 September. Jane has been delegated archidiaconal responsibilities for the whole diocese during this period.
Bishop Mark said: “As Mike takes some time for a sabbatical, I’m delighted that Ruth is stepping into the role of Interim Assistant Archdeacon. We pray that Mike will have a fruitful and restorative time this Autumn.
Please do join me in praying for Jane, Laura and Deb, the rest of our brilliant archidiaconal team, and especially for Ruth as she joins to support them.
Archdeacons serve the diocese in numerous ways, I’m delighted Ruth has agreed to bring her gifts to this interim role as we serve all 1.65 million people who live and work in Chester Diocese”
