A new programme of video conversations has been launched to showcase the range of voices across the Diocese of Chester. The project is being led by Nadene Wright, Racial Justice Officer who says:
“People from UK Minority Ethnic and Global Majority Heritage backgrounds are not always invited to have their voices heard. In this series, I’m looking forward to hearing from key stakeholders including members of the Racial Justice Forum, our Education Board and Schools, as well as children and young people. We’ll be giving them a platform by sharing their stories on the Diocesan website, via our ebulletin and social media channels.”
Each series of conversations is split into three parts.
Series 1 is entitled, “God’s unity in diversity” and is a conversation between Nadene, Bessia, Julie and Mark.
They discuss three questions
Part 1 – What does Reclaiming the Narrative mean to you?
Part 2 – What is your vision for racial justice?
Part 3 – Name somebody from black history who has been instrumental in your life
At the end of the third part, viewers are invited to reflect further and challenge themselves with action points to help embrace unity.
The action point for series 1 invites viewers to research the following people to find out more about their stories: Mary Seacole, Dido Elizabeth Belle, and David Oyelowo.
