Having received the news that Bishop William was no longer able to visit us in Chester Diocese before returning to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bishop Mark was able to meet up with him at Euston Station. He said:
"It was joyful, if a little chilly, to grab an hour and a cuppa together. I had not realised his son had also just got married so we shared wedding pics (my daughter got married in September).
"We talked about the missional challenges and opportunities in Boga, which are very encouraging. Bishop William ordained 34 people this year, I think he said - and they are being sent to small or brand new churches to enable new people to become Christians.
"The violence between armed groups continues to be a concern, but there is greater peace at the moment, so we are giving thanks for that.
"Bishop William was very enthusiastic about the idea of having support to enable motorbikes and help with transport. He talked about the challenges of getting around the parishes, as well as the various mission projects that they run around health care and education.
"As we prayed together, it was great to celebrate this link, across continents but united in Christ."
