The Revd Catherine Cleghorn
It's a sunny but bitingly cold day on Ash Wednesday and the Revd Catherine Cleghorn is out on the streets of Crewe spreading a little warmth to the local people.
Catherine is a Curate at three local churches, St Andrew's, All Saints', and St Peter's. Catherine, along with Jim Shepherd, a Reader from St Peter's, is on the main high street to offer Ashes To Go to people passing by.
Ashes To Go is a national initiative, which is about bringing spirit, belief, and belonging out from behind church doors, and into the places where we go every day. It’s a simple event with deep meaning, drawing on centuries of tradition and worship to provide a contemporary moment of grace.
"We've come to talk about what Lent means to Christians and what Easter means to us as well." Says Catherine, who engaged with Christians and non-Christians as part of her outreach into the community.
