Final preparations for Saturday's live event

Staff and volunteers at the Cathedral and four locations around the diocese are making final preparations ahead of Saturday's live Vision Feedback Event.

The ambitious service will see people from each location contribute to the service via a live video link.

Chester Cathedral will be the main location for the event, but everyone is welcome to join in at one of the four local "watch party" venues. No booking is required: simply turn up at your preferred location and join in. The service begins at 11 am and refreshments will be served after the event.

The Revd Peter Froggatt will co-host the service at Chester Cathedral alongside Ruth Bull and says: "The event is a celebration of Casting the Net Wide, the process to develop a new vision for the Church in the Diocese of Chester. We're looking forward to hearing from the bishops as they share the emerging themes and priorities that have been identified through the consultation."

Harriet Roberts, who has led the vision process in the Diocese of Chester, says it will be an exciting opportunity for people to take part from different locations.

"One of the things we have heard is that sometimes people feel disconnected, geographically from the City of Chester. This is the first step in addressing this in a symbolic way as we celebrate the vision process together and hear directly from the bishops as to what it is they're discerning from the consultation."

The four "watch party" locations are:

St Wilfrid, Grappenhall
Christ the King, Birkenhead
St Michael and All Angels, Macclesfield
Holy Trinity, Stalybridge

The Bishop of Stockport will join people gathered in Stalybridge, the Bishop of Birkenhead will join the watch party in Birkenhead, Archdeacon Mike will be alongside those in Grappenhall, and Archdeacon Ian will travel to join people in Macclesfield.

No booking is required, simply turn up at your preferred location and join in. The service begins at 11 am and refreshments will be served after the event.

The timetable for the live Vision Feedback Event on Saturday 20 May

10.30am - Arrival at your local "watch party" venue

10.45am - There will be a short moment of prayer and thanksgiving

11.00am - The event begins at Chester Cathedral, with each venue contributing to the event via video link

12.00pm - The service is due to end, with refreshments served at each location afterward.

The Bishop of Chester, Mark Tanner, will lead the service at Chester Cathedral where he will share the emerging themes and priorities that have been identified through the consultation.

In the video below Bishop Mark invites the whole diocese to be a part of the event, at Chester Cathedral and at the four locations around the diocese, and emphasises the importance of listening to each other and to God. He says: "We believe that it's really important that we listen to each other, that we listen to people outside the Church, but, most importantly, that we listen to God as we try to discern his priorities for our life together in this next phase of being the Diocese of Chester, for all of the 1.65 million people who are part of our communities."

The service will also be broadcast on the Diocese of Chester's YouTube channel for anyone unable to attend.
