Full Time
Central to Open Evangelical Tradition
We are seeking a mission-focused priest to lead these two vibrant Cheshire parishes (total population 7,000). There are strong community links, and a commitment in both parishes to look outwards in mission. There is a major new housing development and the parsonage, a new five-bedroomed house, is provided on that development.
The new parish priest will:
- Have a passion for mission and community engagement;
- Lead in a way which is inclusive and collaborative;
- Be committed to reaching out to younger generations;
- Be a caring and wise pastor;
- Encourage the congregations in living out their Christian faith in daily life;
- Foster a good safeguarding culture in the parishes.
Note
In recent times, each of these two adjacent parishes has been served by its own part-time priest. Under this new arrangement, we are seeking to recruit one full-time priest to serve both. The post-holder will be Incumbent of St John’s Walton and Priest-in-Charge of All Saints Daresbury. The two churches share much in common, and have worked together closely in preparing for this vacancy. The worshipping tradition at Daresbury is central, and at Walton open evangelical. Because the two parishes will be sharing a minister for the first time, there will need to be discussion of changes to patterns of service times, but this is fully acknowledged by the PCCs, and thought has already been given to how this could be achieved. The patronage of both parishes is held by Lord Daresbury.
