Headteacher

We are looking to appoint a motivated and successful leader to be the next Headteacher of our school. Woodchurch is a welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive school that is committed to the local community and where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We are excited for the school’s future, and very much looking forward to joining Chester Diocesan Academies Trust in the autumn term.

Our new Headteacher will have the highest ambitions for our children. They will be an outstanding leader and a great communicator, have real leadership skills and a clear vision for excellent Christian education.  They will appreciate the benefits of working with a supportive team of staff, governors and parents. They will be committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children, staff and the wider school community. As Headteacher, they will also enjoy working closely with other schools within the local area and the academy trust, learning from and sharing best practice.

Woodchurch is a one form entry Church of England primary school situated in the Woodchurch estate within an area of Birkenhead. Holy Cross Church is neighbour to the school and the relationship between the church, school and community is strong. Mobility is low and families are very committed to the school, with several generations attending. FSM is 35% and the community engages well with the school pastoral support.

Our pupils benefit from leafy school grounds, comprising an astro pitch, forest wildlife area, trim trail, garden and outdoor access for several classrooms. The building is spacious with several meeting rooms and space for specific teaching opportunities. As a school, we have worked hard with the Local Authority and Chester Diocese to make necessary improvements. We are excited by the progress we have made so far and are looking forward to welcoming a Headteacher who can continue to build upon this work to achieve excellent outcomes for our pupils, families and staff.

There will be the opportunity for potential candidates to arrange to visit the school during September.
