The following have been announced since October 2024:
APPOINTMENTS
BRITCLIFFE James Andrew: Formerly Assistant Curate in the parish of Alsager St Mary Magdalene (1301), in the Deanery of Congleton, now Interim Assistant Minister of the parishes of Crewe St Andrew with St John the Baptist (1708), Crewe St Peter (1712) and Crewe All Saints & St Paul (1707), in the Deanery of Nantwich, with effect from 7 November 2024.
LAMB Graeme William: To be Assistant Curate (known as Associate Minister) of the parish of Christ Church Moreton (0712), in the Deanery of Wallasey, with effect from 17 December 2024.
McGURK Michael Joseph Patrick: Formerly Head of Church Growth in the Diocese of Manchester, now Vicar of the parishes of Hale (1011) and Ashley (1003), in the Deanery of Bowdon, for an interim period of 5 years, with effect from 18 November 2024.
QUICK Suzanne: To be Lead Chaplain for Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with effect from 19 December 2024.
RESIGNATIONS/LEAVERS
BENNETT Peter: Formerly Assistant Curate at Crewe St Andrew with St John the Baptist (1708), Crewe St Peter (1712) and Crewe All Saints & St Paul (1707), in the deanery of Nantwich, now Team Rector at Salford All Saints Team, in the Diocese of Manchester, with effect from 14 November 2024.
EASTWOOD Nicola Jane: Formerly Vicar at Upton (Overchurch) St Mary (0812), in the deanery of Wirral North, now Priest in Charge of Strensall and Area Dean in Easingwold Deanery, in the Diocese of York, with effect from 11 November 2024.
HUPFIELD Hannah Elizabeth: Formerly Vicar of High Lane (1105) in the deanery of Chadkirk and Rural Dean of the Deanery of Chadkirk, now Associate Archdeacon: Transition Enabler of the Deaneries of Adwick-le-Street and Snaith & Hatfield, in the Diocese of Sheffield, with effect from 4 November 2024.
RETIREMENTS
ROWE Pauline Frances: Formerly Associate Minister of the parish of Moulton St Stephen the Martyr (0609), in the deanery of Middlewich, retired with effect from 3 November 2024.
DEATHS
We are sorry to have to report the death of the following members of clergy. Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.
FINLAY Michael (Mike) Stanley (Revd Canon): Canon Finlay was ordained in Liverpool Diocese in 1981 as Deacon and 1982 as priest, serving his curacy at Christ Church Padgate, in Liverpool Diocese, from 1981 – 1985. His first incumbency was as Vicar of All Saints Newton-Le-Willows, in Liverpool Diocese (1985 – 1990). He was then called to St Margaret Orford, in Liverpool Diocese (1990 – 1998). Canon Finlay then became Priest-in-Charge at St Elphin and St John Warrington, in Liverpool Diocese (1998 – 2000), and remained there from 2000 – 2011, when he became Rector of that parish. He was made an Honorary Canon of Liverpool Cathedral from 2007 – 2011, at which time he retired. Canon Finlay then moved from Liverpool Diocese and settled in Chester Diocese where he held PTO (2012 – 2023). Although Mike spent the majority of his ordained ministry in Liverpool Diocese, when he moved to Chester Diocese he was active in his local parish church, and as a committee member and one time Chairman of the Retired Clergy Association in Chester. Died 8 November 2024.
REYNOLDS Raymond (Ray) Ernest: Revd Reynolds was ordained in Ripon Diocese in 1960 as Deacon and 1961 as priest, serving his first curacy at St Margaret of Antioch, Leeds, in Ripon Diocese, from 1960 – 1962. His second curacy was at St John the Baptist Beeston, in Southwell Diocese (1962 – 1964). His first incumbency was as Rector of Farnley, in Ripon Diocese (1964 – 1976) following which he then moved onto to serve as Rector of Higham-on-the-Hill with Fenny Drayton, in Leicester Diocese (1976 – 1982). In addition to this he was also Priest-in-charge of Witherley, in Leicester Diocese (1981 – 1982). In 1982 Witherley was combined with Higham-on-the-Hill with Fenny Drayton to create the new united benefice of Higham-on-the-Hill with Fenny Drayton and Witherley, where he served as Rector from 1982 – 1990. Mr Reynolds then moved to be Vicar of St Andrew Sutton, in Ely Diocese and Rector of St Martin Witcham with Mepal (1990 – 1994). Although retiring in 1994 he took on the role of Curate at St Mary Nantwich, in Chester Diocese (1994 – 1996) and then continued to serve in Chester Diocese with Permission to Officiate (1994 – 2014). Died 1 October 2024
