Treasure the Treasurer

The Chester Diocese ‘Treasure the Treasurer’ Tour is coming your way to help reduce the administrative burden on those with the responsibility of managing the finances in our churches.

Assistant Accountant, Sharon Taylor-Booth who runs the Treasurers Network explains: “As a Diocese we’re aiming to celebrate the work of treasurers which is so often taken for granted. So, we’ve organised a series of roadshow dates for treasurers to meet each other in their deaneries and to discover together what systems are available to help save valuable time. This is an exciting opportunity to come along and find out what support is available in our continuing programme of learning events and networking activities.”

There will presentations from Data Developments, The Church Organiser, Parish Giving Scheme and Human Resources.

Sharon will be joined on the tour by Digital Giving Adviser, Bessia Kanengoni who said: “More and more churches are embracing cashless donations and experiencing increased income which is a huge benefit in these financially challenging times. At the Treasure the Treasure meetings, I’ll be sharing the tools and explaining my role in supporting churches to make the change.”

Bishop Julie said: “Without our treasurers and administrators making the money go round, our parishes simply wouldn’t exist. The team from Church House going out on the Treasure the Treasurers Tour builds on the already successful Treasurers Network which we run as a Diocese. These meetings are an expression of how much we value the ministry of the people doing these roles. We want to continue to support and empower them with tools to reduce the administrative burden and the hours involved in doing this valuable work.”

Staying connected 

Our network offers numerous opportunities for engagement, including a monthly discussion on current or timely topics, as well as monthly Breakfast and Lunchtime Drop-in sessions.

Network Sessions 

Timely topic meetings are held on the alternative second Monday's and Tuesday's  of every month. During these sessions, we provide valuable content on a relevant subject. The sessions begin at 7 PM and last no longer than two hours.

Drop in Sessions 

On the third Thursday of each month, a Breakfast Drop-in session is available, and on the fourth Friday, we host a Lunch Time Drop-in session. Both will be accessible for approximately one hour. 

The session is open to all who wish to participate in a Q&A. Beginning at 8:30 am on Thursday and 12:30 pm on Friday, the sessions will last approximately one hour. They cater to individuals eager to engage with the network but are bound by full-time commitments and find evenings challenging. These meetings have no fixed agenda; they serve as a platform to discuss any challenges you may be facing, to offer support, and to assist others. The dates for the sessions are as follows:
