Guidance on introducing new stained glass windows, paintings, banners and other artworks.
The DAC supports in principle the introduction of new artwork to churches. Its concerns will be that the subject matter is inspiring, thelogically clear and well executed. It's really important, from all points of view, that any proposal gets off on the right foot - particularly if your church building is highly listed and/or if your proposals would have a significant effect on the worship space.
The DAC therefore urges parishes to submit their ideas (normally as an outline sketch or concept) at an early stage for informal feedback. This avoids delay and nugatory costs. It also reassures any donors that the project is moving forward constructively.
