Counselling and Support

We respect the value and dignity of each person within the church and seek to reach out, nurture and support all who are part of the Body of Christ.  Chester Diocese offers a number of services which include: therapeutic counselling, consultative support for clergy and licensed workers, mediation, and training through the IME/CME training programmes for clergy and pastoral workers.

We respect the value and dignity of each person within the church and seek to reach out, nurture and support all who are part of the Body of Christ.  Chester Diocese offers a number of services which include: therapeutic counselling, consultative support for clergy and licensed workers, mediation, training through the IME/CME training programmes for clergy and pastoral workers and support in issues relating to mental health.  

Counselling services are coordinated by Peter Mackriell, Head of Counselling Services and include both individual counselling and peer support. 


The Mental Health Forum is facilitating several services for World Mental Health Day. 

The following services are now being organised:


Wednesday 9 October 6.30pm at St. Mark’s, Lache-cum-Saltney (Chester Deanery) 

Thursday 10 October 7.00pm at St Peter's, Crewe  (Nantwich Deanery) - speaker, the Revd Peter Mackriell, Head of Counselling Services 

Thursday 10 October at 7.30pm at St Bridget's, West Kirby. (Wirral North Deanery)

Thursday 10 October at 7.30pm at St Matthew’s Stretton (Great Budworth Deanery) - speaker, Linda Buckley, Reader and Deanery Lay Chair.  Refreshments will be provided. This service was live streamed on YouTube.  

Thursday 10 October at 7.30pm at Emmanuel, Cheadle Hulme (Cheadle Deanery) - speaker, Revd Aled Seago, Associate Minister of Emmanuel

Sunday 13 October 10.30 a.m. at St Boniface, Bunbury (Malpas Deanery) - preacher, the Revd Peter Mackriell, Head of Counselling Services
