Clinging to the Cross explores the space between Stones and Firelight, searching for practical grace in a complex and demanding world. The first book in the series brings us back to the cross of Christ, in search of practical wisdom for everyday faithfulness.
Bishop Mark’s book has been written and released to be used as a study course in the Diocese of Chester.
The book can be used as study material in any context, as a group or alone. Some have also used it as a Lent study course.
Accompanying the book, Bishops Mark, Julie, and Sam have recorded a series of podcasts on the material, and there is a suite of recorded reflections on biblical passages available.
In these podcasts, the bishops reflect together on specific chapters from Bishop Mark’s latest book. They explore biblical resources for living faithfully in complex times and have been prompted in part by the conclusion of the Church of England’s Living in Love and Faith project.
Bishop Mark says: “We are inviting church leaders in the diocese to engage with this resource and join us in an ongoing conversation. This first book, and the Lent study materials which Bishops Sam, Julie and I have produced to supplement it, brings us back to the Cross of Christ, in search of practical wisdom for everyday faithfulness. I hope it will be a rich and fruitful resource for those in church leadership as together we search for practical grace in a complex and demanding world.”
