Thy Kingdom Come

What is Thy Kingdom Come?

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement which the Archbishop of Canterbury is inviting people around the world to join. He is calling on Christians to pray that people might know Jesus Christ during a focused time between Ascension and Pentecost from
25th May – 4th June 2017.

It’s not complicated – the Archbishop’s invitation is simply asking people to pray in whatever way they want, with whoever they want and wherever they can, that others might know Jesus Christ.

We hope that:

People will commit to pray with God’s world-wide family - as a church, individually or as a family

Churches will hold prayer events, such as 24-7 prayer, prayer stations and prayer walks, across the UK and in other parts of the world

People will be transformed through prayer by the Holy Spirit, finding new confidence to be witnesses for Jesus Christ

For 2017, the hope is to see at least 80 per cent of Church of England churches and cathedrals taking part as well as many other denominations and the churches of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Leaders from Churches Together in England, including Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist and Methodist churches, Free churches and Orthodox churches to name but a few, have all signalled their support.

What's Happening?

On Sunday 4th June, the Diocese is hosting a national Beacon Event at Chester Cathedral from 5.30pm. This will be huge service of praise, celebration, joy and intercession featuring Stuart Townend, Bishop Peter and Steve Legg.  Book your place now!

Throughout the week, there will be prayer events at Foxhill and at the Cathedral. These will be led by people from across the Diocese and it is hoped they will be joined by people from their deaneries and parishes.

A pilgrimage will take place on Sunday 4th June at 9.30am from Foxhill to the Cathedral, arriving at the start of the Thy Kingdom Come Celebration. Pilgrims will be welcomed at the service as we gather together from across the Diocese to pray.
