Vote 100

Vote100 is a year of celebration marking the centenary of the first women winning the right to vote, which was secured with the 1918 Representation of the People Act.

This is a great time for us, across the whole diocese and in all our parishes, celebrate the critical role women play in the Body of Christ, give attention to our mission to all women and the ways the power of the Gospel impacts and affects their lives, and engage in work to address continuing discrimination wherever it is found.

Bishop Libby said; "As I give thanks for those who raised the volume of women’s voices in the British political system a century ago I am conscious their legacy remains incomplete.  All over the world today live people whose experience or circumstances leave them open to misrepresentation and oppression.  We must continue to work for the common good and to speak truth to power so those who are forced into silence may find their voice.”
