Small Grants for Net Zero Projects

The Church of England have released funds to help churches tackle small projects to kick start parishes journey to Net Zero by 2030.

The Quick Wins and Give to Go Green grant schemes are part of The Church of England’s ambitious Net Zero Carbon by 2030 programme, which aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030.

Under the Quick Wins scheme, churches can apply for grants of up to £3,000 to help fund small scale decarbonisation projects such as new LED lighting, pew heaters, insulation or updating electricity supplies.

Give To Go Green can help you double your locally raised donations through match-funding from the Church of England. Through a targeted digital fundraising campaign you will be able to engage your community in building a sustainable future not only for your Church, but also for the world around you. Funding is available for churches that want to carry out small to medium sized projects that will reduce their carbon footprint and cost between £5,000 - £20,000

Eligible works for both schemes relate to the Practical Path to Net Zero. These steps are intended to tackle fabric first improvements which aim to reduce church emissions through low cost interventions. A list of eligible projects for either grant can be found here.

You will need to seek permission for most of these either via archdeacons permission under List B or faculty. Applications for permission are made via the Online Faculty System. Please contact Caroline Hilton, DAC Secretary, if you need advice about permissions or help with the online facullty system.

For details of how to apply for a Quick Win or Give to Go Green grant, please contact Katy Purvis, Net Zero Carbon Project Officer, katy.purvis@chester.anglican.org. Applications are open now and will close on 28th July 2024.
