St. Mary’s Parish Church are hosting a Lego model of their building this Summer as part of the ‘Landmarks of Stockport Summer Challenge' which was devised by One Stockport and Shapes Alliance who joined forces with Pure Brick Studio for a fun, free summer holiday activity for children and their families, highlighting iconic landmarks of Stockport.
"Pure Brick Studio is a creative space for clients with a learning disability or autism", explains Rev’d Marie Flint, Assistant Curate at the Parish of Stockport and Brinnington; "which is one of the main reasons why we were happy to get involved".
Marie went on to explain that as covid ristrictions are lifted, it a good way to excourage people to come back into the church, adding; “It’s such a pleasure to be home to the Lego model and be part of the Landmarks of Stockport Summer Challenge and we are really looking forward to meeting and welcoming people as they step through our door. Being part of the project is an amazing opportunity to participate in the life of our Stockport community".
St. Mary’s Parish Church will be home to the Lego model over the summer holidays and church will be open on Saturday mornings for people to come and view it. Visitors will be offered a warm welcome, together with the chance for families to take part in a St. Mary’s treasure hunt. There is also a newly devised QR code trail around the building, where visitors can scan codes on their mobile phones to access relevant websites or YouTube links, hopefully giving them a taste of Christian faith and church life. Additionally, Stockport Heritage Trust will be open at St. Mary’s for people to explore the rich heritage of Stockport and the Parish Church.
