RE Conference extends invitation

The Diocese of Chester Board of Education is holding their annual primary school RE Conference on Thursday 22 May at Mere Court Hotel, near Knutsford. The theme this year, Exploring a Worldviews Approach, offers an opportunity to give time and space to consider various science-based worldviews. It provides a chance to expand subject knowledge while reflecting on their relevance and significance in teaching RE in schools.

The changes to religious education over recent years has embraced this worldviews approach.  Moving the focus from solely the content to be taught, towards focusing on the framing of this information on the lived experience of adherents, both for institutionally organised, secular and personal worldviews, engaging pupils to not only acquire information but to be interpreters of this information.

We will be joined by keynote speakers who bring lived experience and hold humanist and sentientist worldviews and the compatibility of those who embrace both science and Christianity. They aim to inspire and deepen our understanding of different worldviews and enrich our subject knowledge.

Although aimed at our church school primary advisors, we are extending the invitation to non-church school RE leads across the diocese, as the content will provide valuable subject knowledge. Please pass onto non-church schools within your parish.

We look forward to engaging discussions and meaningful takeaways from the presentations with the opportunity to network with the speakers and other RE leads from across the diocese.
