Sam Rowan will be joining our Dicoese on 30 June 2024, when he will be Ordained as a Deacon, along with others, at Chester Cathedral. But how did his journey to ordination begin?
Sam remembers becoming a Christian at eight years old, while camping with his family in Angelsey. His love of God and the outdoors has helped to shape his life and faith ever since. It was during one of his outdoor pursuits, while walking The Camino de Santiago, a 550 mile pilgrimage, that, "God stirred my heart" towards ordination.
Sam's home town is New Brighton, though he currently lives in Bristol where he has been studying for ordination at Trinity College Bristol. Following the ordination service, Sam will be serving his curacy at St Peter's Rock Ferry where he plans to take his faith outdoors, beyond the walls of the church, to the streets, cafes and community centres, as Sam puts it, "To be a listening ear, and be bold with sharing faith and offering prayer."
