Churches across the Diocese of Chester held light night events as an alternative to Halloween parties this week.
Rather than ignoring the celebration, churches opened their doors to host games, pumpkin and glow themed arts and crafts. some providing an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of someone special in the eve of All Saints.
St Mary's and Sale, West held a light party with more than 100 children who enjoyed dancing away in a silent disco, bouncing on the bouncy castle and competing in the penalty shoot out and glow in the dark pumpkin bowling.
Revd Mike Loach, Christ Church Bebington organised a Pumpkin Patch event. He said: "We created a safe and welcoming space for trick-or-treaters. Around 60 and over 100 adults came along to join in with crafts, toasting marshmallows and having pictures taken with our friendly pumpkins"
We caught up with Revd Simon Stride, Vicar of Frankby with Greasby who was organising a light party at St John the Divine Church. He explains: "Hallowe'en is traditionally a day when darkness is celebrated and tonight we're celebrating the light." Hear more from Simon and look at party pictures from around the Diocese.
