As an Eco Diocese, we take an active interest in what’s happening at Cop 16 and Cop 29, two major gatherings for global collaboration bringing together world leaders, including representatives from the Church of England and the Anglican Communion.
Cop 16 is the United Nations Biodiversity Conference taking place in Baku (21 October – 1 November). Cop 29 is the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Azerbaijan (11 – 22 November).
Diocesan Environment Adviser, Jill Elston says: “Although these meetings may seem a long way from home, there is so much that you and your church can do understand, act and pray. This is church putting the 5th mark of mission into action - to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”
