Rev Jill Elston has been appointed as part-time Diocesan Environment Advisor to support parishes and individuals to speak up and care for creation, live responsibly and develop ways of sharing their enthusiasm for environmental issues in their church and community.
She will be working closely with Net Zero Officer, Katy Purvis and Buildings for Mission Officer, Sheena Wilson.
Rev Jill said, “I’m an ordinary person with a passion for caring for the environment and that is a big part of my Christian faith. I’m far from perfect in my environmental endeavours but what’s needed is everyone making a difference in whatever way they can rather than a few perfectionists.
“We are working towards the Eco Diocese awards and one way we'll be supporting churches is with their Arocha Eco Church journey. We'd like to start an Eco Church Network across the diocese so we can share ideas and help each other if you're interested we'd love to hear from you and about your challenges and successes.”
Please look at the new environment pages on the diocesan website for ideas on taking part in this year’s Season of Creation and starting or continuing your Season of Creation journey, or please get in touch at environment@chester.anglican.org and let Jill know how we can support you.
