A New Year calling us on...
With the beginning of a new year we sometimes look at blank calendars, and seek to populate them hopefully and intentionally, looking ahead especially to our personal high days and holidays, and to warmer climate - bring it on!
I hope that among your diary dates you may already have highlighted our annual Called to Serve vocations day conference on Saturday 04 February 2023; perhaps for yourself, perhaps for someone else in whom you sense God’s calling.
Called to Serve is an opportunity to reflect upon God’s life-giving call within our lives, to learn with others about wise discernment as we rise to that call, to explore further specific ways to serve (in the church and world, preferably both!), and to seek further the formation of our lives which arises from the commitment to Christ which is at the core of all our personal and collective callings.
Aside from Called to Serve, our everyday living and serving of Christ requires a gentle treading of the earth, a prayerful listening within all our encounters with others, and a hopeful vision of what the church maybe for the world in 2023 by God’s grace.
May your 2023 begin with that discernment and intention for the everyday, and a deep sense of the peace of God for all that will fill the calendar this year. A happy and hopeful new year, as you seek to serve Christ, through and in all things.
