Right now loss and grief have come into sharp focus. Everyone knows someone who is bereaved, many of whom haven't been able to say goodbye in the way they may have wished.
The Diocese of Chester is launching a series of bereavement resources for parishes to use to support people experiencing a family bereavement. The resources can be downloaded below, and a parcel of leaflets and posters will be delivered to all parishes in the coming days.
The resources are designed to remind people that the Church of England is here for all, regardless of where they are and what they may have been through. The leaflet reminds bereaved families that they can still arrange Church of England funerals or plan a future memorial service at a time when we can freely meet again.
Parishes are encouraged to download the resources which have been put together by a diocesan working group.
Download a suggested article for use in your parish magazine, website, or local media
Download an A3 poster (can be resized for A4) for use in church or in community centres and doctor's surgeries etc.
Download a leaflet which can be overtyped to include the relevant details before printing in the parish
A batch of professionally printed leaflets and posters will be sent to every parish and it is hoped that parishes will find ways to use them so that people know the Church is here for them at a difficult time.
