Newly-elected Diocesan Synod meets

The newly elected Diocesan Synod was formally welcomed by Bishop Peter on Saturday 10 November at St John's Church, Knutsford. The Eucharist opened proceedings before the Returning Officer confirmed the election results of the Synod and synodical sub-committees.

The Revd Lyndon Bannon was licensed as Bishop's Officer for Self-Supporting Ordained Ministry, before a range of agenda items were discussed, including the 2017 Accounts and the 2019 Budget, which were accepted and approved respectively.

The Revd Jenny Gillies provided a report from July's General Synod and the Dean of Chester, the Very Revd Tim Stratford, was warmly welcomed at what was his first gathering of Diocesan Synod since taking up his role in September.

The Bishop of Chester delivered his Presidential Address before bringing the Synod to a close.

The next Diocesan Synod is due to take place on 11 March 2019.
