Prayer

Prayer is vital to mission. When we pray we give time and space for God to speak into our lives, and to share our lives with God.

Prayer lies at the heart of our individual and corporate lives of faith. It is fundamental to how we understand and relate to God. Canon J John reminds us, that,

‘Prayer is about response, trying to cope with God’s goodness, and the wonder that God invites us to be part of what he is doing in the world.’

Prayer lies at the heart of us joining with the Mission of God. It unites us in our relationship with God and facilitates our ability to discern where we might see God at work in the world. Prayer is possible for everyone, which is why we invite everyone to join in Thy Kingdom Come each year. You are also invited to pray for children and young people on the first Thursday of every month, and to take part in the Cycle of Prayer.

If you would like a prayer to help you begin, the Lord’s Prayer might be helpful.

Our Father in Heaven,

Hallowed be Your Name.

Your Kingdom come.

Your will be done,

On earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins,

As we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours,

Now and forever,

Amen
