The latest 'Clergy Moves' is available below. It includes a list of recent appointments, resignations, retirements, and deaths that have occurred across the diocese.

Appointments

ANDREWS   Karen Margaret   
Formerly Assistant Curate of the parish of Kelsall (0213), in the Deanery of Chester, now Interim Vicar of the parishes of Runcorn All Saints (0312) and Runcorn Holy Trinity (0313), in the Deanery of Frodsham, with effect from 18 October 2022.

BLUNT   Christopher John Scawen   
Currently Vicar of the parish of St Paul with St Luke, Chester (0206), in the Deanery of Chester, to be Incumbent of the benefice of Stockport and Brinnington (1801), in the Deanery of Stockport, with effect from 9th January 2023.

BROAD   Christin Jane   
Currently Rector of the parish of Woodchurch (0110), in the Deanery of Birkenhead, to be Vicar of the parish of Goostrey (1313), in the Deanery of Congleton, with effect from 24 January 2023.

HELLEWELL   John    
Currently Incumbent of the benefice of Thornton-le-Moors with Ince and Elton (0316), in the deanery of Frodsham, and Mission Adviser for the Diocese of Chester, now also Rural Dean of the Deanery of Frodsham, with effect from 29 November 2022.

KNIGHT   Andrew William   
Currently Vicar of the parish of Partington and Carrington (1013), in the deanery of Bowdon, now also Rural Dean of the Deanery of Bowdon, with effect from 28 November 2022.

LEAL   Clare Elizabeth    
Formerly Curate in the parish of St Michael and All Angels, Summertown, in the Diocese of Oxford, now Priest-in-Charge of the parish of High Legh (1404), in the Deanery of Knutsford, with effect from 5th December 2022.

MATHEW   Shemil    
Vice Dean of Emmanuel Theological College, now also Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Minister) of the parish of St Paul, Sale (1016), in the Deanery of Bowdon, with effect from 4 October 2022.

OSBORNE   Julian Marcus   
Formerly assistant Curate of the parish of Tarporley (0515), in the Deanery of Malpas, now Rector of the parish of Barrow (0202), in the Deanery of Chester with effect from 16 November 2022.

PICKLES   Mark Andrew   
Formerly Director of Training at the North-West Gospel Partnership whilst also holding the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Chester, now Vicar of the parish of Cheadle Hulme St Andrew (1205), in the Deanery of Cheadle, with effect from 23 October 2022.

TRUMAN   Charlotte Jane   
Formerly held the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Chester, now Ecumenical Chaplain, University of Chester, with effect from 1 December 2022.

TURNER   Mark Roy    Currently Assistant curate in the parish of Eastham (0905), in the Deanery of Wirral South and School Chaplain at Birkenhead School, to be Vicar of the parish of Hooton St Paul (0909), in the Deanery of Wirral South, with effect from 10 January 2023.
 

Resignations/Leavers

MACINNESS   Lisa Jan   
Formerly Vicar at Hallwood Ecumenical Parish (0306), in the deanery of Frodsham, resigned with effect from 1 December 2022.

DUSSEK   Jeremy Neil James Christopher   
Precentor and Residentiary Canon of the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary at Chester, moving to the Church in Wales.  Resigned with effect from 9 February 2023.  
 

Retirements

MANSFIELD   Stephen McLaren   
Currently Priest in Charge of the parishes of Backford (0901), Capenhurst (0904) and Great Saughall (0907), in the deanery of Wirral South, retiring with effect from 29 February 2023.

 

Deaths

We are sorry to have to report the death of the following members of clergy.  Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.

O'BRIEN   David (Capt)    
Formerly a Church Army Chaplain in Ellesmere Port, Capt. O’Brien was ordained Deacon in 2016 and Priest in 2017 and served as SSM curate at Upton Holy Ascension (0217), in the Deanery of Chester.  Died 20 October 2022.

SEDDON   Ernest Geoffrey   
Mr Seddon served his entire ministry in the Deanery of Bowdon, within Chester Diocese, and was ordained Deacon in 1980 and Priest in 1981.  He served as curate in the Parish of St Margaret, Dunham Massey (1009), from 1980 – 1982 and later became Priest-in-Charge at St Werburgh, Warburton (1018), before becoming Priest-in-Charge and then Vicar at St Mark, Dunham Massey (1010), until retiring in 1992.  After retirement Mr Seddon moved to Llandudno.  Died 14 August 2022.
