Offerton

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspiring priest, male or female, with a deep personal faith having the Eucharist at the centre.  After pastoral reorganisation we now offer a single parish as a part-time post.  The congregation have a commitment to assist the new priest to help grow the church and keep us the focal point in the Parish of Offerton. There are ongoing conversations with a neighbouring parish about the future of the BMO church plant they support in Offerton, and possible further pastoral reorganisation.

The parish is on the outskirts of the town centre of Stockport, with rail and bus services, and Manchester Airport only 5 miles away.

We would welcome a modern catholic priest who:

  • will nurture our pattern of worship, centred on the Eucharist
  • has an approach to unite young and old in the congregation
  • recognises the children and youth work already thriving and build on it
  • will help us to recognise and use our talents to the benefit of the church community and beyond
  • manage commitments with a healthy balance
  • will foster existing relationships and build on friendships with local Christian churches and other faith groups
  • has good communication skills, both orally and through information technology
  • has the inspiration to find ways to grow our congregation and to reach people on the periphery of the church family

We can offer you:

  • support from a non-stipendiary Assistant Priest, and two experienced Wardens
  • a beautiful, traditional church with well used adjacent social and community space
  • a friendly and inclusive congregation that is pastorally minded to support you in caring for the parish
  • a desire to work collaboratively in ministry and mission
  • a large, spacious vicarage and garden near to the church
  • respect for your free time

This is a part-time post, 0.6 of a full-time appointment (4 days equivalent +Sunday, 60% stipend)

Closing date is Wednesday 9th May

Interviews will be held on 24th May
