Christleton is a substantial village on the southern outskirts of Chester, with a growing population (currently around 4000).  Although primarily residential, there is a strong sense of community identity, supported by two schools, one primary and one secondary, which are currently rated as ‘outstanding’.

The churchmanship is broadly central, and encompasses a wide Anglican range.

The parish church is in good repair, and there is an excellent modern Rectory a short distance from the church building.

The current vision of the parish, and its aspirations for the new Rector are set out in the parish profile which can be found below along with the Parish Fact Sheet, and the most recent set of PCC accounts.

The parish has strong lay leadership, and an active retired priest lives in the parish.  There is scope for the further development of lay ministry.

Those wishing to discuss the position further are asked to contact either one of the Churchwardens (and parish representatives), or the Bishop of Chester:

Mrs Bettie Gilliatt, East Garth, 66 Tarvin Road, Littleton, Chester CH3 7DF  01244 335645

Mrs Tina Lightfoot, 146 Tarvin Road, Boughton, Chester CH3 5EE  07557 352 592

Rt Revd Dr Peter Forster, Bishop’s House, Abbey Square, Chester CH1 2JD  01244 350864

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 15 May, with interviews scheduled for Friday 1 June.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit the parish, and meet members of the PCC, on the afternoon and evening of Thursday 31 May.
