Communication is most effective when it is planned and coordinated. Please contact the Communications Team in the early stages of your project development to ensure we can best support your ideas.

What we can help with?

Liaising with the media
Media relations involves working with the media for the purpose of informing the general public of your news, views, and values. The Communications Team can help you to achieve positive news coverage and help you to mitigate any negative coverage you may be facing.

Communications planning
The best communications are coordinated, planned and conducted in a timely manner - in theory! However, in practice, this isn’t always the case, but the earlier you can plan your communications the greater the likelihood that it will be effective. Contact the Communications Team to discuss your ideas.

Social media
If as a parish or school you haven’t yet dipped your toe into the world of social media, then perhaps we could encourage you to do so? The Communications Team can support you to take your first steps if you are new to social media, and if you are already on your way, we can help you to develop content ideas and make the most of these valuable tools.

The Communications Team are the primary contributors of the diocesan social media channels. The Diocese of Chester currently has a presence on the following platforms to varying degrees (more development work to be done). Please do take the time to connect, follow, or like.

Parish websites
Your parish website is a digital noticeboard. It’s important that it reflects your parish values and traditions. Information should be kept up to date and the design should be welcoming. Our first suggestion to all parishes in the Diocese of Chester is to make good use of A Church Near You (ACNY). A free service supported by the National Church which has a growing reputation and recognition.

ACNY allows you to list details of your church, post news, events, service times and photographs. ACNY has just entered its second phase of development and parishes in the Church of England can now create a free website using the service.

Click here for more information on A Church Near You.

Publications and print literature
The Communications Team produces two regular publications.

The E-Bulletin

The E-Bulletin is sent to all office holders in the Diocese of Chester and subscribers who have chosen to receive it. It is published on the first and third Monday of each month, except in August when there is a short break.

The E-Bulletin is published as a way of keeping office holders in the diocese informed of the latest news and developments from Church House and senior staff.
