Safeguarding

Welcome to the Safeguarding pages of the Diocese of Chester

The following pages give an overview of the work of the safeguarding department. We hope you will feel reassured that the Diocese of Chester takes the responsibilities of safeguarding very seriously. Should you wish to contact us then please use the links below.

Who We Are

The Diocesan Vulnerability and Safeguarding Officer is Pauline Butterfield, a highly qualified and experienced Social Worker. Pauline has held a number of roles at national and diocesan level in Church safeguarding since 2002 and joined us in 2014.
Within our diocese Pauline is the person to contact if you have any concerns or issues to discuss, or if you wish to come forward with any safeguarding information.
If a child or adult is at immediate risk of significant harm, in the first instance you should always contact your local social services team or local police (call 101). You should then inform Pauline.
