Transforming Lives Together

What is Transforming Lives Together?
TLT is an exciting venture which aims to enable churches to make a greater contribution to the spiritual and social transformation of ourselves and our communities.
It is a joint venture set up by the Diocese of Chester and Church Urban Fund and is part of the Together Network of similar ventures around England.
The aim is to improve access to resources, make local work more effective, and create a framework for others to respond to the problem of poverty by offering time and money, action and prayer.
Our Vision is to transform lives and communities through every person in every church in every community tackling poverty, and we aim to act as a catalyst and seek to inspire and shape a movement to tackle poverty in the diocese; provide a framework for Christians to engage with issues of poverty, and identify how they will respond wherever they live in the Diocese. Working relationally with individuals and groups so that the vision is people driven not project driven; andpartner with communities and share the lead in shaping an agenda to tackle poverty.
Poverty in Numbers: update of poverty look up tool
Church Urban Fund’s website has a poverty lookup tool. Entering your postcode in to this tool allows you to see where your parish ranks, nationally or within the diocese, on ten different indicators including child poverty, pensioner poverty and life expectancy. This tool has recently been updated and you can access this tool on your smart phone, finding out information about the parish you are standing in, or any parish of interest in the country.
It’s essential that any funding application responds to identified (and evidenced) need in the community, congregation and/or building, depending on the grant funders’ criteria. This can sometimes be called an external audit. We are able to advise on the best type of audit tool for your particular needs and occasionally we can facilitate a longer study using ‘Know Your Church, Know your Neighbourhood’ which is a community audit developed by the Together Venture in Birmingham Diocese.
