The Royal Cheshire Show will take place on the 21 and 22 June at the showground at Tabley – and this year it’s special for two reasons …

The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Les Rowlands, ‘topped out’ the restored spire of St James’ church in New Brighton. The occasion marked the ceremonial completion of the project, which has seen the landmark spire completely rebuilt.

undefined Christian bookshop celebrates a big ‘birthday’
Everyone is welcome at the Birkenhead Christian Bookshop on Saturday 23 April – when the bookshop celebrates 70 years of its existence. A day-long programme of Christian musicians, poets, puppeteers and storytellers will complement children's activities, as special 'goody-bags' will be given away to anyone who joins in the celebrations.

A highlight of the week at St John’s parish, Weston, Runcorn, is the Meet ‘n’ Eat lunch each Wednesday. And after each lunch, Christ Church Friends stay on for social activities. The two popular activities have been both been going for ten years.

St George’s church, Poynton, near Macclesfield, invited members of the local community to a special witness event on Maundy Thursday. Some 100 people attended the event – which involved a live depiction of The Last Supper scene made famous by Leonardo da Vinci’s 15th century mural painting.
undefined A garden symbolising hope – INSIDE church
Each year at Easter a special garden is created within St Michael’s church, Coppenhall, Crewe, as an aid to prayer and a symbol of joy and hope. Parishioners grow plants to create a big Open Tomb scene within the church - and they renew and replace the plants right through the Easter season until Pentecost.
undefined Cycling tour of historic churches is launched
A 40-mile cycling trail of historic churches around Chester has been organised to encourage people to get out and explore the countryside and local heritage. The 'Towers & Spires' tour starts at Chester Cathedral and then takes in St John’s church, Chester, which is the oldest standing building in the city still in use for its original purpose.

A guidebook which tells the history of St James’ church in New Brighton, Wirral, has been produced by the parish. It was launched at the Wirral History and Heritage Fair in Birkenhead Town Hall earlier this month. The book shows how the history of the building is intertwined with the history of New Brighton itself, and includes a beautifully photographed guide to the main features of the church.

St Matthew's church, Stockport, has revamped its Saturday Café to bring together crafters and computers in aid of the local community. Pam Robinson, Community Development Manager said: "We were approached by the Stockport Artists and Crafters Group to see if we could provide space so that their members could knit, crochet and make cards for charity.
undefined A dramatic Lord’s Passion for Chester city centre
There will be an element of the Chester Mystery Plays performed in the city centre on Good Friday (25 March). It will be the Passion. This key section is coming back two years early – for the full production of the plays is not scheduled to take place until 2018.

A Chester parish is to hold a special talk about Firm Roots – a Christian organisation which supports people going through cancer. St Mark’s, Lache cum Saltney, holds meetings for the charity monthly, on the second Monday of each month.
