undefined New Pastoral Workers
Chester Cathedral was the scene for the Licensing Service for Pastoral Workers on 24th September. The service, led by Bishop Keith, was a celebration of the culmination of three years hard work, training and challenge as five new Pastoral Workers were licensed.

On Sunday 18 September the worshippers at St Peter’s, Delamere, including the Rector, the Revd Elaine Ollman, and the Archdeacon of Chester, Michael Gilbertson, gathered to celebrate the bicentenary of the laying of the church foundation stone.

With Foxhill heading towards its 50th anniversary, work has begun on developing a renewed vision. The work has started with the appointment of a new Director, Assistant Director and the Foxhill Development Group led by Bishop Libby. The new Director is the Revd Jonathon Green. Jonathon is married to Anne and they have three grown-up children. Jonathon has been General Manager at Rydal Hall since 2007.

Church of England parishes and primary schools are getting Thank Your Vicar Week 16-23 October in the school or parish diary, when they will be celebrating the vital contribution their clergy make to the community. Thank Your Vicar Week, which launches nationally in every Anglican diocese this autumn, gives parishes the opportunity to say a big thank you to their vicar or curate by holding a special service or school assembly.

The Archbishop Cranmer Awards for young people aged 11 – 18 in the diocese of Chester take place each year in November. Entrants read or recite a passage of their choice, 3-5 minutes in duration, from the Book of Common Prayer.

St John’s church in Lindow, Wilmslow has been awarded a grant aimed at helping churchgoers engage confidently with science. During the year long project church members from Cheshire will meet scientists, visit observatories and host a Halloween astronomy light party.
undefined Northern Bishops mission set to ‘sizzle’
This September, 25 bishops including Bishop Keith and Bishop Libby are to join the Archbishop of York for four days of mission activity across Lancashire. The Crossroads Mission is a personal initiative of the Archbishop and runs from September 8 until September 11. Hundreds of events will take place across Blackburn Diocese in schools, pubs, universities, colleges, shopping centres, community centres, cafes and churches and even Ewood Stadium – home of Blackburn Rovers! The hope is that Crossroads will touch many people’s lives and will help them to find a living faith.

The funeral of The Rev Ian Godfrey, vicar of St Luke's Church, Goostrey and St Peter's Church, Swettenham, will take place at St Luke's on Friday, August 26, followed by interment at St Peter's.

undefined A prayer for students awaiting exam results
As thousands of students across the country await exam results that will determine the next stage in their life’s development, the Church of England has issued a prayer to support them through the anxious moments of waiting. The prayer, written by a gap-year student when receiving her own results was still fresh in her mind, will be issued on social media on Wednesday, the day before this year’s A Level results are released.
