The Revd Canon John Bowers will next month pedal off for a fund-raising trip to Ireland. John’s son Chris and his granddaughter Ayse will join him on the cycle ride – intended to bring aid to persecuted Christians, particularly those in Syria, as well as helping girls in Kenya who are at risk of abuse.

All those with children aged 3 to 11 years are welcome to bring them to St. Luke's church, Huntington, Chester, for new dance classes. Parish dance school 'First Footers' launched this spring.

A thought-provoking and optimistic leaving service for Year 11 pupils (15-to-16-year-olds) was held at St Chad’s Catholic and Church of England High School, Runcorn. The Bishop of Birkenhead gave a talk and the school choir sang ‘Down in the River to Pray’, ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ and ‘O Happy Day’.

The Chester Cathedral Boys’ Choir (PICTURED) will sing at evensong at St Barnabas church, Bromborough, Wirral, this Sunday 10 May. The service starts at 6pm. The cathedral’s Vice Dean, the Revd Peter Howell-Jones, will be preaching.

Chester Cathedral’s popular tower tour attraction ‘Cathedral at Height’ has received an award for Best North West Tourism and Leisure Project. The award – from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) – was presented at a special ceremony recently.

Churches Together in Bromborough and Eastham will host a concert by leading hymn-writer Stuart Townend as part of their celebrations for Pentecost. The evening of performance, chat and worship will take place at Christ the King Church, Bromborough, Wirral, from 7.30pm on Friday 29 May.

St Mary’s church in Upton, Wirral, is reaching the end of the first phase of a major church building redevelopment – which will see the reopening of the church. The most visible change will be the flexible seating, designed to accommodate different styles of worship and activities.

Christian writer and broadcaster Adrian Plass and his wife Bridget (PICTURED) will spend an evening at St Mary’s church, Weaverham, on Saturday 12 September. Starting 7.30pm, they'll bring the joys and frustrations of the Christian faith to their audience with humour, sketches, poems and stories from their own perspective.

On a glorious April day the Ven Ian Bishop hosted a lunch for 42 retired clergy, and their spouses, at his home in Congleton. Lunch was cooked by Ian himself – and no-one complained!

A long-standing member of St Margaret's Church, Wrenbury, celebrated her 100th birthday over the Easter weekend. Mrs Jessie King (pictured) attended Wrenbury school as a child and married in Wrenbury church.
undefined Arts and crafts in Wallasey
Saint Thomas church in Liscard, Wallasey, Wirral, will hold its third annual arts and crafts exhibition from Friday 19 to Monday 22 June. Among displays at the church will be pottery, embroidery, paintings and modern art.
