undefined Farewell to a much-loved colleague
Chris Woodward has retired as diocesan Schools Assets Officer after more than 26 years of faithful service. Nearly 50 people attended a farewell reception and buffet lunch for her at Church House, Daresbury, on Monday 29 June.
undefined 'Topping out' at St Peter’s, Prestbury
The congregation of St Peter’s church, Prestbury, turned out in force for the ancient ceremony of ‘topping out’ their new building (an extension to the old church) which is due to be completed later this year. A branch of yew from the churchyard was attached to the highest point of the building in the traditional manner.

A recently-launched campaign to have defibrillators made available in many more public spaces – such as parks, swimming pools, offices and schools – is being led by St Mary’s church, Newton, Hyde.

Practical theological and composer John Bell (a regular visitor to our diocese) returns for two special events organised by our Continuing Ministerial Development Officer, David Herbert.

A big art installation called ‘The Walk of Affirmation’ is now open to be experienced by the public at Holy Trinity church in Blacon, Chester. The artwork (PICTURED) consists of brightly coloured material floating downwards to the floor for the entire length of the north aisle.

All Saints’ Church in Crewe is to hold its popular ArtsFest from Friday 2 October to Saturday 3 October. The events include an art gallery, arts and craft displays, worship sessions and live music.

St Michael's Church in Middlewich are staging a ‘walk through the Bible’ experience during Father’s Day Weekend (19th – 21st June). As part of the local Folk & Boat weekend local schools are working closely with the church to completely transform the building into an interactive experience for all ages.

undefined Alan McAllester, requiescat in pace
Our former Diocesan Registrar has died aged 72 after suffering from cancer. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for the comfort of all who knew him. Alan McAllester was a retired partner and consultant with Cullimore Dutton solicitors of Chester. After serving as our Registrar from the 1980s onwards he was succeeded in the post by Helen McFall in 2008.

These awards are for innovation in Christian teaching. They offer primary, secondary and special schools from across the UK an opportunity to demonstrate their expertise in the teaching of Christianity through art, drama and music.

St Matthew’s church in Edgeley, Stockport, is open to visitors for a ‘tactile tour’ from 6pm on Tuesday 23 June. The tour is intended to be a multi-sensory experience – a chance to explore the fine Grade II-listed Victorian church and all its artefacts through sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

undefined Big celebration for church and centre in Wirral
St Mary’s church in Upton, Wirral, held a festival last month (May) to celebrate having reached the end of the first phase of a major church building redevelopment. MayFest 2015 featured six music events and a range of family-friendly activities – including Messy Church and a family trail through the church.
