A vote in favour of women bishops

undefinedThe proposed law allowing women to be made bishops has received backing from our diocese. Voting at Diocesan Synod – held at St Laurence’s church, Frodsham (pictured) on Wednesday 21 May - backed the proposed law as follows …

House of Bishops: 2 for; nil against; nil abstentions.

House of Clergy: 37 for; 10 against; 3 abstentions.

House of Laity: 48 for; 7 against; 3 abstentions.

All the dioceses in England have now voted in favour of women bishops.

A final Church of England decision is expected to be made at General Synod later this year.
