Local Missioner Network

The Diocesan Mission Team and the Light Project are working in partnership to grow a Diocesan-wide Local Missioner Network. Rev Lyn Weston, Jonathan Masters, Rev Glyn Jones and Rev Heather Carty supported by Anne Cody are enthusiastic to encourage individuals of varying capabilities with a passion for mission in their local churches and communities to join the network. This is an informal monthly gathering where creativity will be encouraged and innovative ideas brought to life.

We meet at Foxhill House and Woodlands, Centre for Prayer, Study and Mission once a month in the evening where we eat together, pray and worship together as well as share ideas about mission, discipleship, evangelism and reaching out to younger generations in our variety of contexts and settings. The cost of the network is met by the Diocesan Board of Finance.

Local Missioners are a diverse group of individuals with different personalities, vocations and experiences. This vibrant lay network presents a real opportunity for all God’s people to have a safe space to be shaped and gifts identified and enhanced. It also allows the opportunity for ambassadors for mission to develop. Members are invited to support in bringing the Diocesan Mission Strategy to life in local churches and provide valuable input and feedback as we shape our future direction.

You don’t need to be trained or an expert to join this network, just someone who would love others to experience Christianity and through it, Jesus. We realise that not everyone can manage to study on a formal course, so this network seeks to bring together mission minded people in order to equip and encourage us together for our local churches.

Maybe you have never completed a course but would love to connect and chat with others as you explore what mission might look like for you. It may be that your church wants to start something new and you want to get alongside some like-minded people with ideas and tips. Maybe you have already completed a course or have experience of mission or evangelism but find yourself isolated, uninspired or lacking in resources and ideas.

If you would like to become a Local Missioner yourself, just start by exploring the possibility, or know of someone in your church who may benefit from attending this gathering, then please get in touch with us by calling Anne Cody at Church House on 01928 718834 ext 263 or e-mail anne.cody@chester.anglican.org.
