As with all grants, please check the criteria to see if you're eligible, and the t/c's to see if appropriate for your particular circumstances:

  • A change in law to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect on 25th May 2018.The main thing to note is that, as a charity, the church does not do direct marketing (DM), and therefore the vast majority of churches do not need to worry about GDPR. However, when a church is planning a fundraising appeal and planning on writing to non-members of the electoral roll, this could be considered DM and therefore the church may need to consider wording of letters / brochures and how their funding needs are distributed and communicated. Please see above guidance document for advice.
  • HLF GPOW grant programme closure. On 3rd April 2017, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) have announced the Grants for Places of Worship (GPOW) programme will close later this year, and churches are encouraged to apply to their other grant schemes. Please see the Church of England's response for further information.
  • National Churches Trust. NEW for 2017: 'Maintenance Grant'. The NCT have also recently launched a Project Viability grant scheme too. The deadlines for all their grants, including Community facilities and Repairs, are now on their website
  • Church Buildings Council (CBC) conservation/repair grants 2017
In 2017, the CBC will increase the total funds available for parishes to apply for ‘Conservation Report’ on art works or historic furnishings, such as a wall painting, stained glass, monument, organ etc etc. This is the first step before applying for one of their grants for the repair work. All 2017 deadlines have now been published on their website.
