  • DAC section of this Diocese of Chester website- providing technical advice on buildings maintenance and improvements, health and safety, and guidance on legal permissions for making changes to church buildings
  • ChurchCare website- detailed guidance by the Church of England. This includes caring for buildings, opening up buildings for visitors, making changes and in their 'Guidance and Advice' section they have over 50 Guidance Notes including heating and lighting.
  • Church Build website has a wealth of practical support with redeveloping church buildings
  • Crossing the Threshold publication by the Diocese of Hereford, 2013, explains, in detail, the process of redeveloping a church building. Free to download
  • Maintenance advice. The 'Faith in Maintenance' initiative by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings have many practical resources for caring for buildings. Also, a film introducing a Church Warden to the main building issues to consider.
  • Inspired North East, by the Diocese of Newcastle and Durham includes caring for buildings and visitor tourism.
  • 'Buildings for Mission', book, 2015, by Nigel Walter and Andrew Mottram, available to purchase online
  • Local needs/assets research. The Fundraising Guide includes a section on identifying local needs and assets, which can help shape the vision for the project and provide evidence of need
  • Saving money. The Church of England's 'Parish Buying' Scheme could save money on a variety of products, including project management software, lighting, heating, insurance, furniture and so on
