Learning events for parishes

We are keen to learn, share, reflect and, in turn, grow together in how we can better realise the potential of church buildings and halls in furthering mission and ministry. Here are some opportunities you may like to consider:

1. Training events

See the 'Events' page to view all training courses and events, including:

2. 'Explorers of Church Building Projects':  launch programme

The Diocese of Chester is delighted to announce a NEW learning opportunity for parishes interested in developing and caring for church buildings and halls for furthering their mission and ministry.

Beginning in September 2017, a series of specially organised visits to churches will take place every two months. People can book to attend one or more visits, held either in the morning or afternoon for a couple of hours, to hear about the church building project, the lessons learnt and take a look around the church. This will be open to churches of all denominations in the geographical area of the Diocese of Chester

Why come?

The Explorers programme provides the opportunity for parishes to see first-hand the work taking place across the Diocese, learn from the experience of churches managing such projects, and have the opportunity to ask questions. There will also be chance to find out about support available of Anglican churches from the Diocese of Chester’s central team at Church House and share your ideas for how we can better support and learn from one another.

Explorers: the launch programme

Running from September 2017 to June 2018, the programme covers a range of topics, scales of project and geographical areas. If feedback from parishes is positive, we’ll look to develop the programme until March 2020. Booking is essential; there are a limited number of places available for each event:

3. Training needs survey

In order to contiunue to develop a relevant learning programme, we would like to re-run a training needs survey that was last taken three years ago. We would like to know what areas you would like more support in caring for, developing, managing and/or using buildings to their full potential for mission and ministry. To take part in a short survey, click TRAINING NEEDS SURVEY. Please complete by 31st October 2017.
